Daal is a comforting and protein-rich Indian dish made from lentils, spices, and herbs. It’s easy to prepare and perfect for a wholesome meal.
Ingredients:
1 cup lentils (toor, moong, or masoor)
1 onion (chopped)
2–3 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil or ghee
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Method:
Wash the lentils well and boil them with water, turmeric, and salt until soft.
In a pan, heat oil or ghee, add cumin seeds, onion, and garlic; sauté until golden.
Add tomatoes and cook until soft.
Pour the mixture into the cooked lentils and mix well.
Simmer for 5 minutes, garnish with coriander, and serve hot with rice or roti.
Tip: For extra flavor, add a pinch of garam masala before serving.
